History of Santorini:
In ancient years the island of Thira or santorini was called
"Strongili", because of the shape of the Island. After the

followed, which caused the 3000 feet crater to collapse inwards and break
the central and western parts of the island in 5 different pieces allowing
water to fill in and create the present day the Caldera. Approximately 83
sq. kilometers of land disappeared. Many historical believe that the Santorini
